Lanka Cricket appoints Anura Tennakoon as new national team manager

Sri Lanka Cricket has appointed Anura Tennakoon as the new manager of the national team effective from Saturday.

Tennakoon, the 'A' team manager was appointed to replace former Sri Lankan wicket keeper batsman Brendon Kuruppu whose contract with Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) expired this month, SLC said.

 

Tennakoon, 63, was a pre-Test era batsman and the CEO of the former Board of Control (BCCSL) form 2000 to 2003. He is also a member of the current, national selection committee.

 

SLC said it will be banking on his experience and temperament to guide the national team Cricketers towards success.

 

Meanwhile, SLC has approached the out going national team Manager Brendon Kuruppu to fill the national selector's position held by Tennakoon prior to his appointment.
